57 rescued in Nepal over two weeks
Border agents rescued 57 women and children, ages 11 to 29, from human trafficking.
Among those rescued was a 17-year-old traveling with her infant son. She had been promised a better life by a man she met a month ago on Facebook. He switched off his phone after discovering our agents had stopped her at the border.
Agents also rescued 11- and 12-year-old girls traveling together to meet a man that had promised them jobs and money for schooling in a neighboring country. Neither child had ever learned to read. Agents attempted to contact the man but he switched off his phone.

Most of those rescued had been forced to sell their bodies just to survive. Others were rescued from sex crimes or being sexually exploited by a human trafficker for money. The youngest was only 9 years old, and three of the survivors were boys. All of the survivors have been enrolled in our Community Care Program, where they’ll learn to maneuver through the trauma they endured and be equipped to live free.
